چکیده

A 2-month-old female infant was referred to DebRA Mexico from the Regional Children's Hospital because of a generalized dermatosis from birth characterized by multiple blisters and erosions on the trunk, face and limbs, associated with minor trauma. A skin biopsy showing subepidermal blisters associated with a dermal infiltrate of Giemsa-positive cells and CD117-positive antibody was consistent with the diagnosis of bullous mastocytosis. Treatment with oral antihistamines, topical steroids, and antibiotics was initiated, leading to a remission of the lesions.

Congenital epidermolysis bullosa acquisita: vertical transfer of maternal autoantibody from mother to infant.

BACKGROUND Epidermolysis bullosa acquisita (EBA) is a rare, chronic, autoimmune bullous dermatosis that is caused by autoantibodies against the noncollagenous terminus of the α chain of type VII collagen, resulting in decreased anchoring fibrils in the lamina densa. It classically presents with skin fragility and trauma-induced blisters that are particularly extensive over the distal aspect of ...

We studied 15 cases of inherited epidermolysis bullosa and classified the cases based on e...

Comparative scanning electron microscopy of bullous diseases*

The purpose of this study is to compare scanning electron microscopy findings of the blister roof in three distinct bullous diseases: one intraepidermal acantholytic (pemphigus foliaceus); one due to hemidesmosomal dysfunction (bullous pemphigoid); and one secondary to anchoring fibril dysfunction - type VII collagen (dystrophic epidermolysis bullosa). In pemphigus foliaceus, acantholytic pheno...

180 - kD Bullous Pemphigoid Antigen ( BP 180 ) Is Deficient in Generalized Atrophic Benign Epidermolysis Bullosa Marcel

Introduction Generalized atrophic benign epidermolysis bullosa (GABEB) is a form of nonlethal junctional epidermolysis bullosa characterized by universal alopecia and atrophy of the skin. We report a deficiency of the 180-kD bullous pemphigoid antigen in three patients with GABEB from unrelated families. We screened specimens of clinically normal skin from nine junctional epidermolysis bullosa ...
